A year ago two gallery owners, Phoenix Perry of Devotion Gallery and Igal Nassima of 319 Scholes, launched galleries in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Founded on the conviction that art melding together interests such as architecture, gaming, biology, fabrication, computation, complexity, cloud computing, and sound deserves a home in Brooklyn, both spaces offer a unique environment to their communities. Devotion Gallery is a 400 sq ft black box gallery while 319 Scholes is a 3,000 sq ft gallery and performance venue. On Friday August 27th at 8pm until Sunday at 6pm, they are celebrating their joint anniversary with The Shift, a benefit showcase at 319 Scholes for both spaces.
Participating artists include: Benton Bainbridge, Sougwen Chung, Micah Frank, Alexandra Gorczynski, Jorden Haley, Chris Jorden, David Last, Dave Linnenbank, Duncan Malashock, Michelle Mayer, Aaron Meyers, Joshue Ott, Bethany Shorb, SOFTlab, Dan Tesene, and Marius Watz.
