SUMMARY:Key Note Speech: On Failure and the Ontology of Code
DESCRIPTION:Screening Lutz Dammbeck’s The Net: The Unabomber\, LSD and the Internet Code of Contingency tackles numerous seemingly related and yet unrelated topics: failure\, programming\, sound\, action-oriented learning\, oral/aural cultures\, quantum mechanics\, and critical pedagogy to name a few. On the surface what one has to do with the other may seem tangential at best. For exhibition curator Lisa Baldini\, this all contributes to the ontology of code -- where it’s been and where it’s going. All of this has been preempted by the creation of cybernetics. Believing that it is always important to understand critical jumping off points in thought\, Baldini will screen parts of The Net: The Unabomber\, LSD and the Internet in tandem with her lecture. This lecture is lead by curator Lisa Baldini.
