Opening Hours: 7:00PM - 10:00PM
Curated by Igal Nassima

Hello World presents curated thesis projects from New York University’s Tisch School of Arts, Interactive Telecommunication Program. The content of this highly-interactive exhibition includes a range of media: sound, projection, video, installation, and performance. At the center of each work is new consideration, interpretation and approach to new media’s communication technology.

The first known instance of the words “hello” and “world” together in computer literature occurred in Brian Bernighan’s 1972 Tutorial Introduction to the Language B. Since then, “Hello World” has become the standard starting point for any programming language, giving a voice to the computer and making the existence of the machine clear. With this phrase in mind, the artists included in Hello World approach technology not only as a tool or medium, but as an aesthetic potential for creative content and communication.

Participating artists include Andrea Wolf, Andy Jordan, Arturo Vidich, Chi Ka, Corrie Van Sice, Don Miller, Eric Mika, Igal Nassima, Joshua Clayton, Matt Ganucheau, Miriam Simun, Morgen Fleisig, Melissa Clarke, Molly Schwartz, Sonya Yuditskaya and Tamar Ziv.
